Training & Credentials
Dr. Abhishek PT holds an MDS in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery and is fellowship trained in Head & Neck Onco-Surgery at Tata Memorial Centre, Mumbai (ACTREC) — the largest government cancer care network in the country. This fellowship focused on the reconstruction of complex maxillofacial defects following cancer surgery, a discipline that demands exceptional precision in rebuilding facial structure and function.
He has also served as a Consultant at the Government Dental College, Kannur, and continues to be closely involved in academic dentistry alongside his clinical practice.
Why He Practices in Payyanur
After his fellowship in Head & Neck Onco-Surgery — training centred on reconstructing complex facial defects following cancer surgery — Dr. Abhishek made a deliberate choice: to bring that level of surgical skill back to his own hometown of Payyanur, rather than remain in a metro hospital. Today, he applies the same precision and planning once reserved for cancer reconstruction to everyday dental implants, full mouth rehabilitation, zygomatic implants, facial trauma management, oral pathology, and aesthetic facial surgery — care that most small towns simply don't have access to.
Academics & Mentorship
Beyond clinical practice, Dr. Abhishek has a keen interest in academics. He previously served as Associate Professor in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery and Implantology at CIIDSRS, Kasaragod, affiliated to Kerala University, and continues to mentor young dentists in oral implantology. His work has been published in several national and international journals.
